July 4th Old Timer Reunion

I just got back home to Weatherford, TX after driving up to MP for the long-anticipated reunion. As Medicine Park Old-Timers reunions go, the 2009 event was a definite success. We expected 54 old-timers and their families and friends to attend. Although the official count is not yet known, I can tell you there was much more than we anticipated whom attended. The real surprise is how many really old timers showed up. Many were people who grew up in Medicine Park during the 40's and early 50's and came equipped with elementary school pictures. What a terrific turnout and everyone seemed to enjoy this event very much.
We owe a special vote of gratitude to the proprietor of the Skating Rink (Music Hall) and Old Plantation. Without his help, we could not have done as well as we did. I was particularly pleased to see a significant turnout in the dining room at the Plantation, our people really showed their appreciation for the event by going to the Plantation to dine. Hopefully, we will see more events like this one.
Thanks to everyone who did so much and gave of themselves to make this success possible. It would be nice if this reunion could be played out every July 4th from now on, sort of an annual event we can put on our calendars.
